The beauty of small → mnmlist.com

jxnblk: Smaller homes require less heating, less cleaning, less maintenance, force you to simplify, are cozier. If there’s one thing I learned when I was in Japan, it’s that small is awesome. | @jxnblk I am jealous of the experience!

O+A uses employee opinion to design Facebook HQ → contemporist.com

(Found via laureola / freundevonfreunden) San Francisco based interior design firm Studio O+A have designed the new offices for the Facebook Headquarters in Palo Alto, California. The design of the space relied heavily on input from the users, appropriate for a flatly structured company that weights every employee’s opinion equally.

Listen

Random blend mixed the other night on my decks at home… A few sinister tracks never mind the “Perfect World” quire chorus beginning.

“It’s not about pop culture, and it’s not about fooling people, and it’s not about convincing people that they want something they don’t. We figure out what we want. And I think we’re pretty good at having the right discipline to think through whether a lot of other people are going to want it, too. That’s what we get paid to do.” —Steve Jobs (via minimalmac)

The myth of the page fold → cxpartners.co.uk

matthewb: Following extensive testing, Joe Leech and Fiz Yazdi conclude that users do scroll beyond the fold in the vast majority of cases, and that cramming all of the content above this imaginary line might actually have the opposite effect:

The surprising thing we learnt was that actually having less above the fold (one large content block as opposed to 2 smaller ones) encouraged exploration below the fold.
